Have we forgotten the art of doing one thing at a time?
We end up doing multiple things at one time and term it as efficient, fast and effective. We are always distracted! Yes, you might be able to do thousand things at one point but at the end it drains your energy and over time you forget how to focus at one thing. We hardly pay attention to anything and end up doing 1000 tasks mindlessly without being aware of what we are consuming.
We keep switching from one thing to another, constantly consuming information and as a result we do not take time to understand, analyze, take that information in completely and feel overwhelmed all the time.
In order to fully understand any topic or a piece of information, it makes sense to do one thing at a time and do it mindfully.
By doing one thing at a time:
1. We re-learn how to focus.
2. It gives an understanding of our priorities.
3. Helps in better comprehension.
4. Gives a sense of achievement.
5. You end up freeing your time and conserve energy.
I have started closing all the tabs that used to be open all the time and work on one screen at a time. This small activity has really helped me manage my energy better.
