Experiencing lack of energy even after sleeping properly is a common attribute. I started noticing this in people around me. This is when I found a talk by Saundra Dalton-Smith MD about rest and how people see it.
If you feel exhausted even after sleeping, look at the different types of rests and how you can make them a part of your life again:
1 - Physical Rest
a. Passive physical rest: Sleeping and napping.
b. Active physical rest: Restorative activities like yoga, stretching, creative movement.
2 - Mental Rest
Mental Rest: Scheduling short breaks every two hours throughout your workday.
3 - Sensory Rest
Closing your eyes for a minute in the middle of the day, unplugging from electronics at the end of every day and keeping all the gadgets away.
4 - Creative Rest
Going outdoors and savoring the experience.
5 - Emotional Rest
Being authentic, having a self-check-in: identifying and accepting the emotional feeling.
6 - Spiritual Rest
Engaging in something meaningful: meditation or adding community involvement to your daily routine.
7 - Social Rest
Meaningful conversations with people who uplift you and being mindful of your social connections.
I have definitely given a lot of importance to physical and mental rest but definitely need to focus on emotional and social rest.
