Breaking the 'I am busy' mindset: 5 benefits of working in small chunks.

Updated: Jun 3, 2022

I am busy!

This statement is the end of any idea, work that you need to do but cannot because- you are busy.

How to come out of this mindset?

  • Doing things regularly in smaller chunks can help break-out from ‘I am busy’ mindset. I found myself saying this so many times just to realize that I don’t need to carve out 1 hour for a task that I really want to do.

  • You can start with 5 minutes and do it regularly than just wait to find one hour and not do it at all.

This thinking requires just a shift in the mindset. You might not achieve anything big in 5 minutes initially, but you will at least ‘START’ and over time you will have something tangible.

How does this help?

1. It takes you from planning to execution phase.

2. It takes you out from guilt/regret mode to feeling motivated to achieve a goal/complete a task.

3. You have a sense of achievement and a tangible outcome over a period of time.

4. You start living life mindfully and become intentional with what you consume and do.

The idea is to reduce indulging in activities that are not urgent, not important and end up stressing us out. Instead, make room for activities that align to our innate goals and do it in smaller chunks over time.

What are some of the things that you want to start but are not able to because you are busy?
