Every minute of the day we are taking decisions and weighing our options. Sometimes it gets overwhelming to take a decision and it causes stress. Decision fatigue is real, it stresses us out and hampers our wellbeing but can be dealt with if you choose to.
If you feel overwhelmed when faced with too many options, deliberately avoid making a decision then you might be suffering from decision fatigue. Try considering the following to deal with it:
Tip #1 - Taking small breaks
It helps to replenish your thought process and you are able to step out from feeling stressed about your options.
Tip #2 - Eliminating tasks
Analyze what is urgent and important, if your task is not urgent or important- try eliminating it.
""Psychologists call this “decision fatigue”: the more choices we are forced to make, the more the quality of our decisions deteriorates.” - Greg McKeon
Tip #3 - Using energy wisely
Take important decisions when you feel most energized during the day.
Tip #4 - Developing a routine
It helps ease out the situation. A routine makes your life a bit more predictable and takes uncertainty out of the picture.
Tip #5 - Planning
Whatever can be planned, plan it in advance and not leave anything for the last moment to decide on daily basis, example the clothes to wear and the meals to eat.
Tip #6 - Delegating decision making
Delegating simple decision making tasks to other people leave enough time and energy with you to deal with bigger and life altering decisions
This really saves, time, energy and you do not get stressed out in doing small things everyday.
Remember: To be mindful of what causes worry and distress. It is okay to prioritize your wellbeing!
